It wasn’t raining, but it looked like it could. Only a short ride today, but lots of potential sightseeing opportunities… I struggled to pack everything as I had got some of my gear back from Lassie…. Got there in the end… We headed off and it was not long before the heavens opened up once more… I had yet to put my wet weather pants on and cursed at my decision nto to do it from the start… Ever the optimist I guess !! It got quite heavy in patches… We got to the first town on our itinerary and while the others rode around for a look I donned the pants… Good timning as the next wave of showers came through…
I waited for a whle but they did not come back through, and with even more rain coming down I decided not to take the scenic route and go and get my tyres replaced… They were due a little while ago I guess, but whilst it was dry it wan not an issue, but with the amount of rain we had in the previous few days and no end in site I did not want to chance the tyres any further… There was no way I would get back home on them, so rahter than try and find somewhere in Melbourne I thought with a short day today it was smarter to do it today. Plus we have a good ride scheduled for our last day tomorrow, so hoping the weather gods are smiling.
I was not the only one to get tyres, couple of other guys got some front tyres as well… I knew I would be paying sa premium price for the tyres, and $530 later I was on my way… I then tried to find my room for the night, only to be told that there was no record of my booking… Oh well, not a bad effort first accommodation muck up for the trip… No worries I passed a pub that advertised motel rroms from $55… I got one.. Not too bad I gues
Well I have now been on the road for 2 weeks, and although I have had a few challenges, I have a wonderful time… The roads are motorcycling nirvana, if only the weather was more appealing !!
I miss the family and my bed, but all in all it’s been great. Hopefully we wil get 1 last ride in tomorrow before catching up at Reggie’s for a BBQ and the boat ride back to the mainland !
